Bin collections disruption due to extreme heat

EFDC AREA

24/06/2026

A Message from EFDC: Due to the extreme hot weather, some waste and recycling collections may not be completed as planned this week.

The collection crews work hard in all weathers to keep local services running, but the extreme heat presents a significant risk to their health and safety. Conditions of this level can increase the risk of heat stress, dehydration and reduced operational capacity.

Our crews welfare remains a high priority. To help protect them while they carry out this physically demanding work, we need to temporarily pause some activities as conditions become unsafe.

Complete collections by Monday

If your bin is due for collection and not collected on the scheduled day this week, continue to put it out on the boundary of your property and we will return to collect it as soon as we can.

We aim to complete all missed collections by 6pm on Monday, subject to any further disruption caused by the weather.

Check if your road is affected

Please only report a missed collection if your property alone has been missed. If the whole road is affected, do not report it. Crews will return on Monday to complete any outstanding collections.

Thank you for your patience and understanding as we work to keep collection crews safe.
